About our youth ministry

Youth ministry at St. Matthew’s looks a little different than traditional youth ministries.  Sure, we have some of the usual stuff, on Sunday mornings we meet for Sunday school between worship services at 9:15am

But, more importantly, one of our goals is to see youth involved in the whole life of the church.  If your student isn’t into going to youth group, or
doesn’t really like Sunday school – that’s OK.  Hopefully he or she will take advantage of the many other ways to be involved in the life of St.
Matthew’s, like being a part of a worship band, helping as a communion assistant or usher, serving at the meal coalition in Renton,  helping to lead a children’s Sunday school class, or any of the many other opportunities we have.  We would love for your student to plug-in wherever and however he or she feels comfortable!

Another way St. Matthew’s is different is that we value serving the youth of our community.  One way we do this is through our before and
after school program for middle school students, which meets on Thursdays from 2:35 – 4:00pm and late start Fridays during the school year from 7:30 – 9:00am.
ST. MATTHEW'S LUTHERAN CHURCH
Welcome Statement

"St. Matthew’s is a passionate, imperfect community of Christ.  We boldly affirm  ALL  people regardless of culture, age, ability, story, skin tone, sexual orientation, gender identity or political persuasion.  We trust in the ridiculous love of God that shows no partiality.  When our unique identities are used to divide or hurt us, we are committed to reconciliation and healing, so that justice, grace and inclusion continue to be our way of life."
