The St. Matthew’s Justice and Mercy team meet the 2nd Sunday of the month at 11:15am. The mission statement is “To take positive action and raise awareness, standing in loving support, and inspiring change in people’s hearts, social norms and laws that resolve injustices for those in our community and for the environment on which we depend.” During the year, we organized a number of events, including marching in the Seattle PRIDE parade with Open Door Ministries, vigils in solidarity with separated immigrant families, adult education hour on occasion around current immigration policies, and an intergenerational forum for discussion of gun control. We tend to all pressing social justice needs in our community, as needed. We partner with the Eastside Legal Assistance Program as they offer free legal clinics in Renton from our building. We welcome any and all to join us.
