VISION STATEMENT – UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Have you heard about that church in the Renton Highlands? SMLC is a main avenue running between the community and the church. The 2000 strong who show up for worship reflect the mark up of the surrounding community. They come to SMLC to worship God and to grow in faith only to be sent back out in service to others.
People immediately feel at home when they walk through the doors of SMLC. They know it is a church where you don’t have to be good enough to go. The music is the music of the people. Relevant technology enhances the word. The creative arts are on tap.
SMLC is a community that walks alongside people through the challenges of each life stage knowing that when we are vulnerable we need community and are open to discovering God’s ways. Children are a primary focus as they are often the key that opens the door to seeding faith in the home. This is a congregation that meets often in intergeneration groups.
SMLC is actively involved in acts of caring both in the community and around the world knowing this is where faith is discovered and Jesus is encountered. An off campus venue has been established to encounter the community on its own turf.
SMLC is a place of grace which leans in the direction of those who are pushed to the edge of the community. It is a venue for people to come together and learn what it means to be the church in the world today.
There are a lot of churches for the religious community but very few churches for those who love God but struggle to believe. SMLC is committed to being one of those few. |
