Sierra Heights Elementary K-5 Reading-tutoring Program
Are you interested in helping elementary students learn how to read who need some extra help? Sierra Heights is looking for adults who are willing to spend one hour per week after school doing reading activities and listening to children read. The orientation for this program is offered periodically. For more information, please contact Sondra Fosness (Professional Development Coach, Sierra Heights) at (425) 204-4695.
Before School Breakfast
During most Fridays of the school year, St. Matthew’s provides pancakes and apple juice, along with some activities for middle school students, from 7:45-9:00am. This is a wonderful chance to help serve the students in our community whose parents work and who may not have a place to go before school. Volunteers are needed to help cook the pancakes, supervise the students, and clean up afterwards. Email Todd for more details or call him at 425-226-2420 x130.
After School Program
Since 2006, St. Matthew’s has provided middle school students with a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere after school on Tuesdays from 2:35-4pm. During the 2008-2009 school year, the program averaged 82 students each Tuesday, and over 500 different students from McKnight Middle School participated in the program. Volunteers are needed to help students with registration each week, or by providing a snack, or even in supervising all of the fun! Or, if you have a skill that could be used, we could use your help leading an activity for an afternoon. Some of our activities this past year have been: ceramics, card-making, cheerleading, hip-hop dance, bingo, outdoor cooking, crafts, ice cream-making, and much more. Email Todd for more details or call him at 425-226-2420 x130.
