Parent Overview of Confirmation

We’ll meet briefly in the Conference Room at St. Matthew’s Sunday 9/12 at 12:15pm–To help you understand why the program is significant in your student’s life (and why you still make such a difference!) We’ll also answer some of the scheduling questions so you can plan for the coming year.

Sunday June 6th, 6-7:30pm: Graduates Recognition Dinner
We will be appreciating our graduating high school seniors with a dinner for them at Vince’s Italian Restaurant (2815 NE Sunset Blvd.) Meet at the restaurant at 6pm. Please let Todd know if you are coming: (425) 213-6403, todd.hobart@comcast.net

Sunday June 13th, 6-7:30pm: All Youth BBQ at Coulon Park
All high school and middle school students – come celebrate the end of the school year! Meet and get picked up at Coulon by the tennis courts.
Cost: $5

Sunday June 13th: High School Graduates Recognition in worship
All high school graduating seniors are invited to come with their families to the 11am worship service, where they will receive a short blessing and a small gift and be recognized for their achievement.

Sunday June 20th: 5th Grade Graduates Recognition in worship
All soon to be 6th graders and their families are invited to the 11am worship service, where they will receive a short blessing and be recognized as they enter an important new life stage.

Invest in your youth!
Beginning June 13th, you have an opportunity to invest in our youth who are going this summer to work at an orphanage and school in Tijuana, Mexico. Stop by the table in the narthex to purchase “stock” in our youth. $20 per person, or $40 per family will earn you a ticket to the Fiesta Luncheon on August 22nd, where you will have a chance to enjoy some Mexican food and hear more from the students about the trip.

Confirmation Worship on Sunday May 23

All are invited to the confirmation ritual, in worship on Sunday, May 23 at 11am. Following worship, stop by the reception and congratulate the students—they’ve spent the last year studying, serving, having some fun, and impressing the adults who’ve worked with them. This ceremony is only one step on their faith journey, but it’s a great time for all of us to say “thanks” – these students add a lot to our community!

Mexico Mission Trip 2010 Meeting

If you are in 8th grade or above, and are interested in travelling to Tijuana this summer to help an orphanage and school, we are having an informational meeting on Sunday March 7th following the 11am service in the Conference Room (by the offices). The trip is in the very earliest stages so your input is needed and welcome! Some tentative dates for the trip are July 26 – Aug 2, and it could cost up to $650. Our goal would be to fundraise at least half of that amount for each student. Please come to the informational meeting if you are interested, and contact Todd Hobart for more details.

Boxes and Blankets

We will take either! The St. Matthew’s youth could use some blankets to pass out to those in need as well as LARGE boxes for our 30 Hour Famine. We are planning on learning a little bit of what it’s like to be homeless by sleeping under boxes on February 26th. If it is decent weather, we will try to do it outside, so we could use your very large boxes (wardrobe/refridgerator size). We also would like to pass out blankets to those in need that night, so if you have extras, you could drop those by the church office as well. Thanks!
