Heart Healthy Kids’ Poster Contest

Children and youth (age 18 and under) are invited to create a piece of art that depicts behaviors (like healthy eating, exercise, stress relief, and health care) that take care of our hearts. PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED!!!!! Posters must be submitted to Ms. Nicole or Joan Stewart by 10am on Sunday, February 12.

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate loving the most important heart of all, the one inside of you!

Mardi Gras, the day before Ash Wednesday, is traditionally the last celebration or party until Easter. St. Matthew has a party!

Talent Show-The deadline for entering the Talent Show is Wednesday February 15. One rehearsal for the show will be on Sunday, February 19 at noon, in the worship space. Have a talent to share? Health Fair “For a Patient Heart”

Instead of the Heart Healthy Lunch we serve annually, your Health Ministries Team will host a mini health fair called “The Patient Heart and Syndrome X. Are you at risk?”
We hope to assist congregants and community members of all ages to understand and discover if they are vulnerable to this deadly syndrome and if so, what we can do about it. Join us on Sunday, February 12th between services to learn more and to be eligible for cool prizes.

Belong, believe, become…… do you want to find out how to get involved at SMLC? What about getting acquainted with other SMLC people? What does it mean to be a Lutheran? What are St. Matthew’s core values?
Answers to these questions and others will be answered at the next New Member Class on Thursday February 9th from 6:00 until 8:30.We will begin with dinner.

St. Matthew’s church office will be closed and all programs and events are canceled, including Middle School Go Night, which will be rescheduled for March 2nd. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will update accordingly.

During inclement weather conditions, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church follows the Renton School District closure and 90 minute late start schedule. This means that during a school closure, St. Matthew’s will be closed and evening classes, programs and events will be canceled. If there is a 90 minute late start, due to weather conditions, evening classes, programs and events will be canceled.

2012 Inclement Weather Update!

During inclement weather conditions, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church follows the Renton School District closure and 90 minute late start schedule. This means that during a school closure, St. Matthew’s will be closed and evening classes and events will be canceled. If there is a 90 minute late start, due to weather conditions, evening classes and events will be canceled.

Due to the decision of the Renton School District to close schools on Wednesday, January 18, SMLC will not have evening classes, including Confirmation, and the Straight Talk class taught by Pastor Kirby. Information on make-up classes and rescheduled classes will be announced at a later date.

The church office will be closed as well, if the weather conditions are questionable.

We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and update the schedule accordingly.

We encourage everyone to PLEASE be safe!

From bread baking and craft making to the story and symbolism of the Passover and the Last Supper, this promises to be a fun, faith adventure for the whole family. 2011 Congregaton Annual Meeting

Along with our annual business activities (receiving reports, electing new Council members, and voting on our budget) the 2012 meeting will focus on the pathway forward. We’ll consider the input to date from consultants and congregation. The decisions we make over the next 18 months will set the stage for the next two decades here at SMLC.
