LADIES – come out for a night of fellowship hosted by our very own WOW woman Renee Anderson, at her home on Lake Washington Monday, August 2nd at 6:30 pm. Regional Bible Study Event for Women

All women are invited to come to Silverdale, WA on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to meet the authors of the 2010-2011 Lutheran Woman Today Bible Study. The study is titled “God’s People: Unity in the Midst of Diversity”. The cost is $15 and includes lunch. The presenters: Rev. Jensen Seyenkulo and Rev. Linda Johnson Seyenkulo will introduce the study and give an overview.

A registration form is available in the office or here on our website. The deadline to register is August 17. The location is Silverdale Lutheran Church, 11701 Ridgepoint Drive NW, Silverdale, WA. If you have questions, contact Dawn Johnson or Pastor Kathryn.

I hope you have a chance soon to meet some of the leaders who are looking after the life of the St. Matthews community. The photo shows (L-R) Chuck Burr, Mike Hauer, Tricia Fischer, Becky Hill, Kathie Koenig, Barb Connor, and Leighton Lien. Also on the Council this year are David Gale and Karla Lassen. We couldn’t have a better team.

What I really appreciate about them is that they bring a wide variety of background and talent to the council. Chuck, our president, is the most straight-talking, speak from the heart kind of guy you can find. Becky has the kind of hope and optimism that is contagious. I’d tell you more about each, but the point is . . . that you would get to know them yourselves. If you see one of them in the hall, stop them and tell them what you’re thinking. They’ll listen – I promise.

Congregational Meeting 1/24/10

The annual meeting of St. Matthew’s will be held at noon, Sunday January 24. Have a few snacks after worship that morning as we celebrate the payoff of the mortgage and the 2009 highlights. We will also adopt an operating budget for 2010, elect new Church Council members, and look forward to what God has in store for us this next year. While people must be members of St. Matthew’s to vote during the meeting (and a quorum of 50 is needed), all are welcome to attend – come learn more about the inner workings of this outward-focused ministry!

Note for those interested in the details of the budget – the budget presentation meeting will be held on Sunday January 10 at noon. Your participation and questions will help us prepare for the meeting on the 24th.

WOMEN…It’s a New Year…It’s a “Grand New Day” and it’s not too late to begin again! Do you ever wish for a New Beginning? A chance to start over? Join the adventure; meet other women who are on the way to a Grand New Day!
WHEN: We will meet and greet on Monday January 25th at 6:30pm, then continue on the 2nd and 4th Monday’s of the month
WHO: WOMEN in need of fellowship, faith growth and Grace, Grace, Grace…..
WHAT : New friends who begin a Women of Faith bible study and ongoing fellowship, then follow where the Spirit leads
WHERE: SMLC to start…may host at individual homes in the future
WHY: We need each other along this journey…..and after all Women make the world go round, just read your bible….Martha, Mary, Esther, Ruth, ……the list goes on and on!!

OWLs tour Valley Medical 1/16

Join the OWLs in checking out the new addition at Valley Medical Center! An Open House is being held for the public on Saturday January 16. Confirmation Class and Family Dinner

It’s been a while, but class starts again on January 6, 7pm. Be sure to remind your families now about the all family dinner on January 20 (at 6:30pm) where they have a chance to find out something of what you’ve been doing this year. We’ll also talk about the spring mission weekend – should be great!
